Excellence is a journey. The aim is not to be better than others, but to be better than yourself every day.
Vinayak Ravi is an engineer by qualification and a teacher by passion. His love for teaching began during his college days when he enjoyed teaching school children. Although his parents initially wanted him to become an engineer, and he completed his engineering at SDM College of Engineering & Technology, Dharwad, his interest in education never faded.
While he was still studying engineering, his parents — Mr. Ravi and Mrs. Mallika — realised that his heart truly belonged to teaching. Since then, they have been his greatest support, and Vinayak has never looked back.
Vinayak holds a postgraduate degree in Leadership & Educational Change from the National Institute of Education, Singapore, and Teachers College, Columbia University, New York. He also has a Postgraduate Diploma in International Education from Birmingham City University, UK, and the Indus Training & Research Institute, Bengaluru. To further strengthen his leadership skills, he completed the Executive Education Programme for School Leaders at IIM Ahmedabad. Learning from institutions across the world has shaped his thinking and has nurtured him to be a progressive school leader.
At present, Vinayak is the Director of Bala Vinayaka Vidyaniketan (BVV), a CBSE school in Gadag. He is leading BVV in being and becoming a school of tomorrow with modern, progressive ideas. One of his key initiatives is “Learning for Life”, a special K–10 curriculum based on the USA’s CASEL framework that teaches students important social and emotional skills. He also leads BVV’s international collaborations, including an annual student exchange programme with Bendemeer Primary School, Singapore.
Earlier, Vinayak served as Secretary of the Hubli Dharwad North Karnataka Sahodaya for eight years, bringing the members of CBSE schools together for shared learning and growth. He is also a Resource Person with CBSE COE, Bengaluru, and has trained thousands of teachers because he believes that training teachers is the best way to impact many children at once.
His interests include Social & Emotional Learning, Organisational Development, Leadership, and Managing Change. Outside work, he enjoys gardening, listening to music, and watching meaningful movies.
